Where It All Began

Welcome to The Phoenician Steakhouse in Phoenicia, NY — one of the top steakhouses in the Hudson Valley. We age our meat in house, source fresh seafood straight from New York City twice a week, and offer a great selection of craft beer and an extensive wine list.

The Phoenician sits on the former site of the Europa Hotel, circa 1886–1974 — dubbed "The Waldorf" for its modern amenities, which included 80 rooms, tennis courts, a dance hall, a bowling alley, and a snack shack. The hotel was razed in 1974 and the property was then purchased by Al Petinatto, who built Al's Seafood in its place. In 2010, Mike purchased the property to continue to grow on the Ricciardella tradition of providing wholesome homemade meals, along with great service in a relaxed setting. During the Covid shutdown, Mike added the seasonal garden dining area — bringing a new chapter to a property with nearly a century of history.

Reservations are required on weekends and holidays. A credit card is required at the time of booking for groups of 5 or larger.

Our seasonal outdoor dining is now open. We recommend bringing a sweater for the evenings — the Catskills tend to get a little cool, and we do not always have the ability to move guests inside on weekends. Please let us know your seating preference when making your reservation and we will do our best to accommodate you. Please note that we do not allow pets.
